Getting started
RecordMark is a fast, reliable voice recorder with annotations, live transcription, and smart transcript summaries.
Permissions
- Microphone — required to record audio.
- Speech Recognition — for live transcription (optional).
- Photos — attach photo annotations (optional).
- Files / iCloud Drive — save/export recordings (optional).
- Notifications — recording reminders (optional).
Recording
- Tap Record to start. Levels appear on the waveform.
- Set input gain and enable clip guard in Settings for clean audio.
- Calls: the app automatically pauses on incoming calls and resumes afterward.
- Use Auto-split to split long sessions by time or file size.
Note: RecordMark does not record phone calls.
Annotations
- Add text, tags, photos, or highlights while recording.
- During playback, tap a pin to jump to that moment.
- Highlights show as a yellow span with start/end pins.
Transcription & summary
- Enable Live transcription in Settings (auto language or set a BCP‑47 code like
en-US
).
- On the Home screen, see a concise summary generated from your transcript.
- You can turn transcription off anytime.
Search & playback
- Search across audio, transcript, and annotations.
- Zoom and scroll the waveform; the playhead auto-scrolls during playback.
- Skip, scrub, and tap pins to navigate precisely.
Files & export
- Save in WAV, M4A (AAC), MP3, CAF, or AIFF.
- Export audio, transcript, and annotations as needed.
- Choose local storage or iCloud Drive; your files remain yours.
Pro & purchases
- Pro removes the recording time limit.
- To restore on a new device, use Restore Purchases on the paywall.
- Refunds and subscriptions are managed by Apple via your App Store account settings.
Troubleshooting
No sound in recordings
- Check the microphone permission in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
- Ensure input gain isn’t set too low; disable Bluetooth if audio is routed elsewhere.
Transcription not working
- Verify Speech Recognition permission is granted.
- Try setting a specific language code (e.g.,
en-US
).
Storage full
- Delete unneeded recordings or move them to iCloud Drive.
- Use M4A (AAC) for smaller files vs. WAV/AIFF.
Can’t restore Pro
- Confirm you’re signed into the same Apple ID used for purchase.
- Tap Restore Purchases and wait for the confirmation.
FAQ
Does RecordMark record phone calls?
No. If a call arrives, the app pauses and resumes afterward.
Where is my data stored?
On your device by default. If you export or use iCloud Drive, storage follows those services.
What languages are supported for transcription?
Any language supported by your device's speech recognition. You can set a BCP‑47 code like en-US
.
How do I request data deletion?
Delete recordings and associated files in the app or from Files/iCloud. You can also email support for help.
Refunds?
Handled by Apple via your App Store account.
